Permanent Outdoor Lighting

Permanent outdoor lighting, especially as a convenient alternative to holiday lights, is becoming more popular. As with most products that become popular, there are more options and providers coming on the market and it can be frustrating and confusing trying to sort out the different claims that are being made (everyone will tell you that their product or service is the best).

So how do you decide which option is going to work best for you?

Earth Smart Property Solutions is an authorized dealer of GlowStone Lighting. The following information is compliments of GlowStone Lighting.

4 Things to Consider Before You Purchase Permanent Outdoor Lighting:

1. Quality of Manufacturing:

Is the light designed for your part of the world? A light designed to work perfectly in California may not work very well in Canada. Big changes in temperature and humidity can ruin the electrical connection between lights not designed for this climate.

What is the Cold Weather Rating?

  • GlowStone Standard Lights are rated to -30 °C
  • GlowStone Premium Lights are rated to -55 °C

Are they fireproof?

  • GlowStone Premium Lights are fireproof rated V-0 (meaning they can’t cause a spark or sustain a flame)

Are they waterproof?

This will be listed as an “IP rating”. The number 6 means it is completely dustproof, the number following (1-8) is how waterproof it is.

  • GlowStone Premium lights are rated IP68 – Completely Waterproof (like a submarine)
  • GlowStone Standard Lights are rated IP67 – Mostly Waterproof (like most new cell phones)

2. Electrical Connections:

The type and number of connections are critical in the performance and longevity of a permanent lighting system.

The most common connection is a quick connector made of plastic and copper.

  • These are easy to install but are not designed for long term outdoor use as they are prone to corrosion.
  • The fewer of these mechanical connections your system has the better your lights will perform over time.

GlowStone Lighting electrical connections:

  • GlowStone Standard systems have one mechanical connector for every 20 lights. All other connections are soldered and protected with a heat shrink.
  • GlowStone Premium system have no mechanical connections.  All of the connections are soldered and heat shrunk for maximum protection and longevity.

3. Installation:

You can have the best lights available or the worst lights available. Likewise, you can have the best installation or the worst installation.

  • All GlowStone Lighting Dealers have been trained to install GlowStone Lighting products in a manner that meets their best practices and insures the longest lasting most reliable system on the market.

4. Price vs. Value:

Price is easy and often misleading. It’s a number that represents an immediate emotional cost to the customer.

At GlowStone Lighting they talk about value, as do their authorized dealers. Value is equal to the benefit minus the cost. This is the number that speaks to solving a customer’s problems and creating a year after year emotional benefit.

No more frustration, no more missed opportunities, no more risking injury. The value of a GlowStone Lighting System is not in the price but instead in the feeling it gives the customer every time they turn it on. We believe that everyone should love coming home to their GlowStone Lights.
